Field
Dog
Flint earned his Field Dog Junior in his first 3 attempts with
consistent scores of 84, 85, 85. In sustained winds of 30 km/hr, he
covered the back course and bird field then made his way into the
forest and slammed on point on his quail that had made its way up into
the trees. Not knowing how I was going to flush, I walked in anyway,
the quail flew out of the tree and I got a shot off. On his last
attempt on chukar with zero wind and high humidity, he had a stop to
flush then 2 solid points and threw in a retrieve to hand of a third;
a cripple he honed in on that was missed in the earlier FDX runs. My
judge commented as we walked out, "I'd hunt behind that dog!" A nice
remark for a junior dog that had never worked chukar.
